Have you ever sat down to write a blog post… and drawn a complete blank? You’re not alone. Whether you’re a beginner blogger or an experienced content creator, it’s easy to get stuck on what to write next. The dreaded ‘writer’s block’. A few years ago, I wrote a post about how to overcome this. (See https://myonlineincome.org/how-to-fix-writers-block-top-10-tips). I still stand by that article today, although the good news is that nowadays, there’s also a new kid on the proverbial writer’s block – and that tool is AI! Now, before you go into a spin about the dangers of Artificial Intelligence (AI), you should know that AI isn’t here to replace you. It’s here to spark your creativity, speed up your workflow, and help you stay consistent. In this article, we’ll walk through how to use AI tools to generate blog ideas, craft irresistible headlines, and even draft content – all while keeping your unique voice front and centre.
Why use AI for blogging?
Before we dive into the how-to, let’s look at why AI tools are worth adding to your content creation toolkit:
- Speed – You can go from idea to outline in minutes
- Inspiration – Get a fresh perspective when you’re stuck
- Consistency – Keep up with a regular posting schedule
- Structure – Create outlines that make sense and flow
- Editing help – Polish your writing without paying an editor
Best of all, AI doesn’t get tired or run out of ideas – and it never rolls its eyes when you ask it the same question five times, which I sometimes do by the way!

Step-by-step: Using AI tools for blog creation
1. Generate blog topic ideas
Staring at a blank page? Ask your AI assistant something like:
“Give me 10 blog post ideas for a beginner interested in affiliate marketing.”
You’ll get a range of potential titles, some of which you might adapt or combine. Tools like ChatGPT, Jasper, or Copy.ai are brilliant for this.
Example prompt:
“Suggest five blog article ideas for someone starting a lifestyle blog who wants to monetise it.”
The more specific you are, the better, and you can train your AI assistant to know your likes and don’t likes as you go too. See my article here for more information on this subject.
2. Craft compelling headlines
Once you’ve picked a topic, use AI to improve the title or test alternatives. Good headlines increase clicks and help with SEO, so you can ask your AI for suggestions. It doesn’t mean you have to use them, but it can spark ideas, discussions or questions.
Example prompt:
“Create 5 catchy blog post titles for a post about the benefits of passive income.”
You’ll get a mix of styles – some direct, some curiosity-based. Pick one or tweak the best.
3. Outline your article
AI can help you structure your post logically, which is a huge time-saver. You can delete, amend, check the ideas in the outline as well as move them around to create your perfect structure. You can also ask it to add references or check facts.
Example prompt:
“Write an outline for a blog post titled ‘How to Start Affiliate Marketing in 2025’.”
This might include sections like:
- What is affiliate marketing?
- Why it’s still growing
- Tools and platforms to use
- How to get started step-by-step
- Mistakes to avoid
- Final tips and resources
4. Write or expand content
With an outline that you’re happy with ready, you can generate rough drafts of each section or ask it to draft the entire article.
Example prompt:
“Write 200 words explaining how affiliate marketing works for beginners.”
You can then refine and edit the tone, add your own examples or anecdotes, and make it truly yours. It’s important here to know that this is never going to be your final draft . There may be huge chunks of it that you do use, but try to think of AI as your co-writer – not the final voice. What you want to do is make sure that the article sounds like you – warts and all!
5. Add SEO keywords and meta descriptions
You can ask AI to suggest keywords based on your topic, and even write meta titles and descriptions.
Example prompt:
“Suggest five SEO keywords for a post about building an online income.”
“Write a meta description for a blog titled ‘How to Start a Print-on-Demand Business’.”
Some bloggers also use tools like SurferSEO or Ubersuggest alongside AI to refine their keyword targeting. There are free and paid-for plug-ins that you can also use. I use All In One SEO (AIOSEO) to help and I’m currently using the free version. On another site, I use Rank Math.
Real-world examples of AI prompts to try
Here are five useful prompts you can copy and paste (and adapt for your topic):
- “List 10 blog post ideas about turning hobbies into online income streams.”
- “Improve this headline: ‘How I Made Money from Blogging in 2025’.”
- “Write a beginner-friendly introduction to affiliate marketing.”
- “Create a blog outline for ‘The Top Tools for New Entrepreneurs’.”
- “Generate five CTA lines for a blog post encouraging readers to join my mailing list.”

A note about these prompts
These prompts are really to get you started using AI and to help build your confidence in doing so. As you learn to trust AI more and the more you interact with it, the more you will learn about how to create the ‘perfect prompt’. You can even learn to reverse-engineer the perfect prompt to help you in later articles. But that’s all stuff for another article. For now, the object is to get you using AI in your everyday practice.
AI won’t replace your voice
Finally, some people worry that using AI will make their writing sound robotic. But here’s the truth:
AI won’t replace your voice – it just gives you a starting point.
The magic happens when YOU shape the content. Add personal stories, real experiences, and your tone and hopefully a dash of humour. That’s what turns generic into genuine and gives you a recipe you and others can relate to.
If you’re running an online business, blogging regularly, or building a brand, don’t be afraid to let AI support you. Treat it like your creative sidekick, not your replacement. YOU still have the final say on what you put on your blog before you hit that ‘Publish’ button. Check you facts, NEVER just publish something written by AI. That would be like allowing your teenage daughter to write your online dating profile!! It just doesn’t bear thinking about!

Experiment and make it your own
Blogging in 2025 isn’t just about writing – it’s about working smart. I consider myself a writer and I don’t want AI to replace what I do. But I do LOVE the tools that give me the edge, helping me stay productive, consistent, and creative. And I think you will too, given the chance.
So go ahead:
- Try a few prompts
- Experiment with different styles
- Build a rhythm that works for you
And remember: the ideas are already inside you – AI just helps bring them to the surface.
